Iyhs Getting Out
Washington mdash; President Biden said Tuesday he is in favor of reforming the Senate s filibuster rule, likely adding fuel to efforts by some congressional Democrats who are pushing to stanley cup do away with the legislative procedure to more easily get their agenda through the divided Senate. In an interv stanley becher iew with ABC News, Mr. Biden endorsed a return to the talking filibuster, in which a senator has to stay on the floor and continue talking to hold up legislation. I don t think you have to eliminate the filibuster, the president told ABC News George Stephanopoulos. You have to do it what it used to be when I first got to the Senate and back in the old days when you used to be around. And that is that a filibuster, you had to stand up and command the floor. And you had to keep talking along. Asked by Stephanopoulos if he is in favor of bringing back the talking filibuster and for that reform, the president said, I am. That s what it was supposed to be. Mr. Biden lamented that the filibuster rule, which requires 60 votes to end debate and bring legislation to a vote, has negatively impacted t stanley cup he work of the Senate, where he served more than three decades before becoming vice president in 2009. It almost is getting to the point where, you know, democracy is having a hard time functioning, he said.On Tuesday, White House press secretary Jen Psaki told reporters Mr. Biden s preference was not to make changes to the filibuster but is open Fsrc Obama hammered for focus on killing of bin Laden
Arguing that the United States had lost its focus in combating the rise in militants in South Asia over the past several years, President Barack Obama said that the U.S. must refocus atte stanley thermos mug ntion on al Qaeda in both Afghanistan and Pakistan. With the president s recent decision to increase U.S. troop levels in Afghanistan and his stated determination to defeat al Qaeda, Mr. Obama was asked by Fa stanley cup ce The Nation host Bob Schieffer if the war in Afganistan had now become his war. I think it s America s war, Mr. Obama replied. What we want to do is to refocus attention on al Qaeda. We are going to root out their networks, their bases. We are gonna make sure that they cannot attack U.S. citizens, U.S. soil, U.S. interests, and our allies interests around the world. When asked if he might order U.S. forces across the border into Pakistan to attack or capture insurgents hiding in safe havens there, President Obama said he is not changing his policy with regard to honoring Pakistan s sovereignty, noting, If we have a high-value target within our sights, after consulting with Pakistan, we re going after them. But our main thrust has to be to help Pakistan defeat these extremists. Our plan does not change the recognition of Pakistan as a sovereign government. We need to work with them and through them to deal w stanley cup nz ith al Qaeda. But we have to hold them much more accountable, Mr. Obama said. All social events for fraternities and sororities were suspended at Washington State University after the death Tuesday of a student possibly tied to alcohol. It s the second fraternity-related death in the past week and the fourth college campus death in the United States in the past month.Nearly 2,000 college students die each year from alcohol-related injuries, including car crashes, according to government researchers. In addition to Washington State, fraternity-connected deaths have occurred in San Diego, New York and Pennsylvania in recent weeks, prompting a crackdown by school officials, CBS News correspondent Jamie Yuccas reports. Police are still stanley cup investigating what happened at the Alpha Tau Omega house off the Washington State University campus where they received an emergency call early Tuesday morning. Medics arrived to find 19-year-old fraternit stanley cup y member Sam Martinez unconscious. Police said a preliminary investigation indicated that his death could be alcohol related. There is a cultural problem, said Franklin College Professor Hank Nuwer, who has studied fraternity drinking trends for decades. When the deaths occur, it s often because they not only want to drink with the members, they want to stanley cup out-drink them to show off. She allegedly pushed over the store s security guard and ran to a car driven by her grandfather, who refused to leave. She then stepped on the accelerator pushing the car over a hillside. Police later caught up with the car and handcuffed Rimer and placed her in the back of a cruiser. Kramer offered a theory of how the handcuffed woman stole a police cruiser. He believes she may have been able to use a finger or two to control the steering wheel, and doubts she used her shoulders or feet. She was sort of sideways trying to get the gear shift, and the car departed, according to the officer who spotted her at the scene, Kramer said.Police released a dash cam video showing Rimer steering the stolen police car stanley cup onto the road. This story was written by Carrie Budoff Brown. It s evolved into one of the riskiest pursuits in modern politics: vac stanley cups uk ation. Barack Obama set out for what s intended to be a minimalist Hawaiian holiday: eight days away fromtelevision cameras and with family and friends. If he pulls it off, he ll be one of the luckier ones. John F.Kerry s leisure quests in 2004 - snowboarding in Idaho, windsurfing on the Nantucket Sound - reinforced the elitist label Republicans placed on him. Former President Bill Clinton became known as the guy whose aides polled potential trip destinations. President Bush was mocked for vacationing too often, while his father was criticized for retreating to his family compound in Kennebunkport, Maine during the 1992 election. Vacations are fraught with peril, said Susan Estrich, mana stanley thermos mug ger of the 1988 presidential campaign of former Massachusetts Gov. KLOBUCHAR: You know, I think he needs to go under oath, and I m very glad that he s going to have to testify before the House Judiciary Committee. I also hope he comes over to our Senate Judiciary Committee as well, because that s where we re really going to be able to get that answer. The president is constantly tweeting stanley mug out different requests of the Justice Department. Several unions, including Carpenters for Ameri stanley cups uk ca and Teachers for America were at the rally, waving signs in support of the Democratic nominee. Obama also said McCain supports cutting for company s who ship jobs overseas, accusing him of putting Wall Street first, Main Street last. More tax cuts for job outsourcing. That s what Senator McCain proposed as his answer to outsourcing, Obama said, adding, That s the stanley thermos kind of economic philosophy we ve had for the past eight years ndash; and that s fundamentally wrong. In an interview on CNN yesterday, McCain argued that companies transfer overseas because taxes are lower, but that they would be more inclined to remai stanley portugal n in the U.S. if they were paying less. To somehow allege that a company or corporation that can be international is not going to go where they pay the lowest taxes and can create the most jobs is just foolishness, McCain said, The last time we practiced this kind of isolationism and protectionism that Senator Obama espouses on higher taxes was a guy named Herbert Hoover.

California water officials on Tuesday called o stanley cup n numerous communities in Los Angeles County to eliminate all outdoor watering for 15 days next month while a pipeline that brings Colorado River water to Southern California undergoes emergency repairs. The ban includes drip watering and hand watering and affects homes and businesses in areas with about 4 million stanley cup people, according to the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, a wholesaler to cities and local water districts. The pipeline, called the Upper Feeder, will be shut down from Sept. 6-20. A leak was discovered in April and a temporary fix was put in place while Metropolitan fabricated parts for a longer-term repair. The temporary fix allowed the pipeline to operate at reduced capacity over the summer, but it was not intended to last long-term, district general manager Adel Hagekhalil said during a press conference at a suburban Burbank Water and Power facility. We cannot delay this repair any further, he said. Doing so risks a failure and the potential for an unplanned, emergency situation. The district recommended that trees and shrubs be watered before Sept. 6 and then maintained during the shutdown with water collected from showers and sinks. In addition to Burbank, the affected areas include the cities of Beverly Hills, Glendale, Long Beach, Pasadena, San Fernando, and Torrance, as well as Central Basin Mu stanley cup nicipal Water District, Foothill Municipal Water Emxl Author Paulo Coelho deletes draft of book he was writing with Kobe Bryant
CARTERSVILLE, Ga.- The 911 calls made after a 3 year-old boy drowned in a pool on Memorial Day have been released by police.CBS affiliate WGCL reports that two calls were made by neighbors after they discovered af1 the boy s body lifeless in the pool. She made her first court appearance on Wednesday and a judge denied her bond in the case. A sheriff s department spokesperson said that the charges also stem from the conditions of the home and the environment they were being raised in. WGCL reports that there were three other children in the home who were all taken into protective custody. The other children were a 4-year-old boy and two twin 1-year-old boys. Prather allegedly left the children unattended for more than 14 hours without food. It is unclear what Prather was doing at th adidas campus e time she left the children alone.
