By Aya Elamroussi, CNNAn intense heat wave will blanket much of the West this week, prompting officials in California to urge residents to slash their energy consumption for the second day in a row to avoid straining the electrical grid. The California Independent System Operator which manages 80% of the state grid extended what is known as a Flex Alert, urging residents to curtail electricity use between the hours of 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. through at least Thursday. The operator also suggested residents pre-cool their homes at 72 degrees Fahrenheit before 4 p.m. and then set their thermostats to 78 deg termos stanley rees or higher during conservation hours. Residents should also avoid charging electric vehicles or using large applianc stanley usa es, it said.More Flex Alerts are likely to be issued through the holiday weekend, as excessive heat is forecast to blanket most of California, the operator warned in a news release Wednesday. The burden on the grid increases during the late afternoon hours as air conditioner use goes up while the supply provided by solar energy declines, according to the power grid manager. Over 40 million people are under excessive heat alerts across seven states in the West through Labor Day weekend, including densely populated cities such as San Francisco and Lo stanley cup s Angeles. This will be the longest and most intense heat streak so far this calendar year, Alexis Clouser from the National Weather Service in San Francisco

Asian investors appetite for aircraft investments appears to remain strong: three new joint ventures involving established players were announced in the first quarter of 2016.IBJ Leasing and Aircastle disclosed their new venture in February. BANGOR, Maine 鈥?For the first time in his six seasons as the Bangor High School girls basketball coach, Jay Kem stanley travel mug ble is employing a full-court press. And it certainly worked well Friday night. His Rams forced a ton of turnovers, converting several into easy baskets, and held Brewer to just six first-half points en route to a 49-25 win over the arch-rival Witches at the Red Barry Gym.Class AA Bangor improved to 2-1 while Class A Brewer fell to 0-2. Were athletic so were able to get up and down the court. That has to be part of our game as we continue to move forward, said Kemble. We have to be able to apply pressure all over the court, and pressing in the full-court actually helps us become a better half-court defensive team because you have to stay down in the stance and play harder for longer. A state program that provides wild game meat to food pantries is filling a protein gap caused by higher prices in grocery stores and greater need in Maine communities.Hunters for the Hungry, which was established in Maine in 1996, has grown to 23 game meat processors since its inception. A couple of them just joined this year, said Gus Nelson, director of The Emergency Food Assistance Program, a federal project that supplies emergency food at no cost to those who need it.Hunters for the Hungry provides bear, moose and deer meat to the states food pantries and soup kitchens. It was established by the Maine Legislature and specifies those three types of game. Fish are not part of the program. Hunters for the Hunger is a cooperative venture between the federal project, the Maine stanley usa Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry, and the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, Nelson said. Although the program has slowly grown over the past 28 years, there is more need now for quality protein in food pantries than ever before, and theres still great potential for growth, Nelson said. Less than half of the 58 game meat processors registered with the state take part in the program. There are also hunters, food pantries and soup kitchens that have never heard of the program, he said. It is a sort of woods-to-pantry approach, Nelson said stanley mug .This is the first year the project is making a deliberate effort to grow stanley mug the program.
