Exqw Serious Thinking About The Middle East
The following is a transcript of an interview with 60 in 6 Quibi Correspondent Wes Lowery that aired Sunday, September 6, 2020, on Face the Nation. JOHN DICKERSON: Welcome back to FACE THE NATION. Overnight, there were tense confrontations between demonstrators and police in Rochester, New York, and in Portland, Oregon. They re the latest in a series of protests, so stanley website me of which have turned violent this summer since the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis. Joining us now is Wesley Lowery, correspondent for 60 in 6. Wesley just returned from Kenosha, Wisconsin, where he was covering the shooting of Jacob Blake. Wes, it s good to have you with us.WESLEY LOWERY: Thanks for having me. JOHN DICKERSON: So we have heard a lot about Kenosha. It s in the middle of this presidential campaign. You were there. What s happening there What s the scene LOWERY: Certainly, you know, so I- I just got back earlier this week from Kenosha and spent some time on the ground there. And- and, look, it s not unlike a lot of the other cities in the last few years and certainly the last few months where we ve seen unrest on the ground. Right Initially, there is kind of an organic anger that turns sometimes into violence. We saw this in Kenosha. Some stanley italia buildings burnt down. Then stanley uk you have a rush of people who come in. And in this case, that was both folks who wanted violence as well as these kind of vigilante groups. We had the shooting that involved Kyle Rittenh Hpae Editorial: Avoid Election Fatigue For Two More Days
EXPELLED....I went out today and saw Expelled, Ben Stein s documentary that posits a vast, worldwide conspiracy of Darwinists who are shut stanley cup ting down legitimate scientific inquiry into In stanley becher telligent Design. The official debunking is here if you re interested, but I went mostly because I was curious about how good a film it is purely from an agit-prop standpoint.Answer: not very good. Stein s basic problem is that during the first half hour or so he keeps his film sounding fairly reasonable. Maybe ID proponents really are getting the shaft! But it s also deadly dull. After 30 minutes I was wondering how long he could possibly stretch this stuff out. Then it picked up. Unfortunately for Stein and the IDers, it did so only by becoming increasingly unhinged. Stein spends the final hal stanley cups uk f hour wandering around Dachau and telling us outright that his real motivation for attacking evolution isn t any real flaw in the theory, but his belief that Darwinism leads directly to Nazi-ism, eugenics, atheism, the breakdown of morals, and mass slaughter. Can t have that, so evolution needs to go too. Maybe this is an institutional problem with makers of political documentaries. After all, Michael Moore did much the same thing in Sicko when he decided to finish up the movie with a paean to the healthcare system of Cuba. This didn t really do much except forfeit his ability to persuade anyone who was skeptical of his case in the first place, and that s

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- A mass of demonstrators chanting, Black lives matter, converged in the Mall of America rotunda Saturday as part of a protest against police brutality that caused part of the mall to shut down on a busy day for last-minute holiday shopping. The group Black Lives Matter Minneapolis had more than 3,000 people confirm on Facebook that they would attend. Official c af1 rowd estimates weren t immediately available, but pictures posted to social media by local news organizations showed the rotunda was full. Organizer Mica Grim af1 m estimated about 3,000 people participated. The rally was part of protests happening nationwide after officers weren t charged in the deaths of unarmed black men in Missouri air max and New York. During the rally, protesters shouted No justice, no shopping, and While you re on your shopping spree, black people cannot breathe -- a reference to the chokehold police placed on Eric Garner, who died in New York. The message we re trying to say is that no longer can business as usual continue, one organizer told CBS station WCCO in Minneapolis. Today is one of the biggest shopping days in America, and Mall of America, as we see it, is the epitome of capitalism and a huge part of the problem. It s not just that black folks are dying; there re people who profit off of that. Mall representatives had warned protesters in advance that they could be removed, arrested and banned. Republican Representatives Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger are criticizing members of their own party in the wake of what officials are investigating as aracially-motivated mass shooting in Buffalo, New York. The alleged shooter, a white man, reportedly posted a conspiracy theory-filled white supremacist manifesto online prior to the attack and said that he chose the location because it has a high Black population. The online posting referenced the so-called Great Replacement theory, focused on the fear ofnonwhite people replacing America s white pop stanley cup ulation and diminishing their influence.Cheney, of Wyoming, blamed her party s leaders in the House for enabling white nationalism, white supremacy, and anti-semitism. stanley vaso The House GOP leadership has enabled white nationalism, white supremacy, and anti-semitism. Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney called President Trump a tyrant who is trying to turn this country into a dictatorship. The mayor made the comments on CBSN on Tuesday morning after the White House disinvited the Philadelphia Eagles from a celebration for the team s Super Bowl victory. Cities need to stand up in this country, and many mayors have stood up in this country against this tyrant, Kenney said. He is trying to turn this country into a dictatorship by ignoring the courts and by saying and doing what he wants, by ignoring the Department of Justice ... and in the end this will all come to a conclusion, and it won t be a good ending for him. The Democratic Party has begun conversations with television networks about a series of presidential primary debates in 2019, a top party official has told The Associated Press. The talks are in the very early stages, accordi stanley vaso ng to the official, who was not authorized to discuss the matter publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity. The early start, well before the 2020 field is known, signals the importance that the Democratic National Committee stanley deutschland chairman, Tom Perez, is placing on decisions that will be scrutinized for any signs of favoritism among potentially two dozen or more candidates. Th stanley termoska e DNC s goal is to have a debate process that is transparent, fair, impartial and inclusive, senior party adviser Mary Beth Cahill said in a statement to the AP that didn t get into the details of the discussions with networks. Perez has tapped Cahill, who ran the 2004 campaign of Democratic nominee John Kerry, to lead debate discussions. The DNC is holding its annual summer meeting in Chicago this week to discuss the upcoming election cycle. In a concession to supporters of Sen. Bernie Sanders in the 2016 election, Perez is pushing a proposal to limit the influence of so-called superdelegates at the 2020 party convention. Perez told CBS News that this measure, which is set to be voted on Saturday, would return power to the grassroots.
