Brown University senior forward Mary Butler said she idolized University of Maine womens basketball players when she was growing up in Bangor.On Saturday, she will get a chance to play against the Black Bears in her hometown.Butler and the Bears 6-5 will take on UMaine 6-2 in a 1 p.m. game at the Cross Insurance Center. Its going to be a real special opportunity for me, going back to play in my hometown against Maine, said the 6-foot Butler, who is one of four Brown captains. I have a ton of respect for Maine. It will be an honor to play against them. Butler grew up in Bangor, but she has played only one game at the Cross Insurance Center. It was during her senior season against Brewer.
