By WDJT StaffClick here for updates on this story MILWAUKEE WDJT A 40-year-old man is dead following an officer-involved shooting in Milwaukee Tuesday night, Sept. 13.According to the Milwaukee Police Department MPD , three officers assigned to the Tactical Enforcement Unit responded to a ShotSpotter alert near 33rd and Cherry just after 9 p.m.As they arrived, police say gunshots struck their squad, nearly hitting the officers. The officers got out of the squad and engaged with three suspects at least one of which they say was armed with a handgun and returned fire. One of the suspects, a 40-year-old Milwaukee man, was struck several times. Police say the officers attempted life-saving measures but the man later died after being transported to an area hospital.Authorities say a handgun used by one of the suspects, which was equipped with a drum magazine, was recovered from the scene. The two other suspects fled on foot. No offic <a href=https://www.stanleycup.it>stanley termos</a> ers or other members of the community were struck by gunfire. Courtesy of Maine Department of Inland Fisheries Wildlife A Carmel man saved his 4-year-old son after they both fell through the ice Friday morning, but he drowned shortly after.Kevin Howell, 51, of Carmel, was on a walk with his son when they crossed over part of Etna Pond, and they both fell through the ice at about 6:30 a.m. Friday, the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife said.Howell got his son out of the water and onto the ice. He told the boy to run the third of a mile home and get his mother. Once the boy told his mom, she called 911, grabbed an anchor and rope and ran down to the water. She secured the rope to the shore and went onto the ice to help her husband, but broke through the ice herself, DIFW said.Penobscot County Sheriff Detective Jordan Norton was in the area and heard the 911 call. He saw the wife in the water, crawled across the ice and pulled the woman out.Norton looked for Howell but could not find him. He reunited the mom and son at the house.
