Danny Adams State appeals court judges have overturned the conviction of a man whom Monroe County, Tenn., authorities charged with homicide after he was the victim of a shooting in 2009.In an opinion filed April 22, Tennessee s Court of Criminal Appeals threw out Danny Adams conviction for simple assault, saying the judge gave incorrect instructions to the jury. The judges said Adams is entitled to a new trial, but he said Sunday he hopes the state will just drop the charge. They ve put me through enough, said Adams, who still carries a bullet from the fight that left his friend Vince Cole dead. I haven t been dealt a fair hand in Monroe County at all. On June 24, 2009, Adams and Cole were at the Hidden Lake Campground, where a crowd had gathered for karaoke. There were run-ins through the night with Joshua Anderson, of Madisonville, that stanley cup website ended with Anderson pulling a .22-caliber Ruger and shooting both men.Cole died, and Adams was hospitalized with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.Monroe County authorities didn t charge Anderson for shooting the two. At Adams trial in August 2012, the jury found him innocent of homicide. Malaysia has arrested three men who allegedly met a top Singaporean terror suspect in a bid to revive the activities of the regional militant network Jemaah Islamiyah, a news report and police said Friday. HT Image Police arrested the suspects in southern Johor state on June 25 under the Internal Security Act, which allows for indefinite detention without trial, said national police chief Musa Hassan. The men were believed to be involved with the al-Qaida-linked Jemaah Islamiyah and were part of activities that endanger the security of the nation, Musa told The Associated Press. He declined to elaborate, saying police were still investigating the matter. The Star newspaper, quoting unidentified officials familiar with the investigation, said the three Malaysians were believed to have met with Mas Selamat Kastari, Jemaah Islamiyah s alleged former Singapore commander, who also arrested in Johor on April 1. Mas Selamat, a Singaporean citizen of Indonesian origin, is alleged to have plotted to hijack a plane and fly it into Singapore s international airport. He was caught by the Ind stanley cup onesian stanley cup police in 2006 and handed over to Singapore, where escaped from a high-security prison stanley cup in February 2008 by wriggling out a bathroom window. Malaysian authorities recaptured him more than a year later. The three detained were believed to be ordinary members of Jemaah Islamiyah who were attempting to revive the group s operations in Malaysia, the report said. Malaysia has arrested
